    Embracing New Beginnings

There’s nothing quite like the magic of a new beginning.

New beginnings are times of possibilities. Expansion. Growth. Opportunity. They’re filled with limitless potential and hope. They’re a time for something more. More than you can imagine. More than you can possibly envision for yourself. More than you ever thought possible.

A new beginning can come in the form of a promotion or career change. It might be moving to a new city – or even a new country. It might be starting a new relationship. It might also be venturing out on your own for a while, seeking to form a deeper relationship with your own mind, body, and soul.

And sometimes, a new beginning is as simple as waking up to a new day. A day you’ve never met before. A day where anything is possible. A day where miracles are present all around you, if you choose to open your eyes and look for them.

Are new beginnings always easy? Definitely not. As the Law of Polarity states, everything has an opposite, and the existence of these opposites is vital in helping us to gain a deeper perspective of our own lives. So what’s the opposite of a new beginning?

    An ending.

And it’s very likely that if you’re approaching a new beginning, you’re also encountering some kind of ending. Some endings are joyous and worth celebrating. If you’re graduating college and beginning your career, this is likely an exciting time.

Other endings, though, can be especially difficult. The end of a relationship. Leaving a job that you’ve really loved. Saying goodbye. Letting go.

As you encounter new beginnings and difficult endings, I hope you have the courage to move forward, even when it feels hard. I hope you know that even if you loved the path behind you, the path ahead is just as beautiful and filled with endless treasures for you to explore. I hope you embrace each day. Each moment. Each breath that flows in and out of your lungs.

And I hope you follow your heart, no matter what. We often talk about our mind’s wisdom and consciousness. But your heart holds deep wisdom and consciousness as well.

So trust what you feel. Trust the gentle nudges from within. Trust your deep inner voice guiding you forward.

Whatever new beginning you’re stepping into, I hope it brings you endless love, grace, beauty, joy, and abundance. Because you are worthy of all these wonderful things.

    Always.

    Embracing The New Year

A new year is a perfect time to get clear about your overall life vision and decide how you want to show up in the world. What limiting beliefs are still holding you back from achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself? What’s stopping you from stepping into your purpose and passion? And how can you align with the true, authentic you each and every day?

Sure, it’s true that you can ask yourself these questions at any point during the year.

But why not embrace the magic of a new year and all that it represents?

Here are some helpful practices for stepping into the new year with clarity and confidence:

    • Update your vision board! You can create a physical vision board and place it in a spot where you can see it prominently each day. You can also create a mobile vision board on your phone. Just save images and empowering quotes that represent your dream life to an album in your photos labelled My Life, My Future, or simply, Vision Board.
    • Purchase some personal growth books that you’ve been wanting to read and commit to reading one chapter a day. (You can find some of my favorite manifestation books here.)
    • Make a list of empowering new year affirmations that represent how you want to show up for yourself and others over the next year. (And commit to reading them each day!)

    Updated December 17th, 2021

Say Yes To The New Year

“I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. They never work. Haven’t you heard that most people quit their resolutions by the end of January?”

Have you ever heard anyone say this? Or maybe you’ve said it yourself. I’m sure I have at some point in my life, when I was just echoing words I’d heard from people who I assumed were much smarter and cooler than me.

    But now?

Those negative statements about New Year’s resolutions are some of my least favorite sentences in the world.

    Why?

Because you’re not everybody else. Whether someone else follows through or releases their resolutions has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Also, not following through with a resolution doesn’t always equal failure.

Sometimes, you might realize that your chosen resolution doesn’t actually support your highest good. For instance, last year, I decided I was going to run my second full marathon. But as I started making training plans, I realized my heart wasn’t in it. Furthermore, the time I’d have to dedicate to running would take away from hiking, cycling, yoga, and the other physical activities I enjoyed. I had only set this resolution because it felt like something I “should” do. But it didn’t align with what was in my heart, so I released that resolution and embraced all the physical activities I wanted to keep doing.

And I have zero regrets about that decision.

Furthermore, I think we need to redefine what a New Year’s resolution really is. It does’t always have to be a quantifiable goal. Here are some New Year’s resolutions that you can’t quantify, but they all support your overall wellbeing:

    • To make more time for self-care.
    • To be more compassionate with yourself.
    • To make space for fun and play.
    • To embrace your limitless creativity.
    • To spend more time with the people you love.
    • To open yourself up to opportunities for more self-love.

Another argument people often have against New Year’s resolutions is that we should be able to make resolutions any time of the year. And I 100% agree with that. But why can’t we do both? I think it’s fair to let yourself make and change your resolutions throughout the year while also embracing the new year as a time for new beginnings.

(And if you don’t like the word resolution? Replace it with a word like intentions, goals, or something else that feels right to you.)

Below, you’ll find 25 new year reflection questions that will help you step into the new year with a vision for who you want to be and what you want to accomplish. The first ten questions are focused on reflecting on this past year, and the rest of the questions are all about setting goals and intentions for this upcoming year.

Just remember, there are no right or wrong answers here. And you absolutely have the power and the right to change your answers until you find the one that feels right to you. There’s no right or wrong way to approach this. If you want to write down your responses, or simply sit in quiet contemplation thinking about your answers, do whatever feels right to you.

And feel free to come back to these questions as often as you want throughout the year as you continue to reflect and pass new milestones in your journey.
