35 Love Affirmations to Manifest Your Own Love Story
Are you ready to open your heart to pure and unconditional love? Below, discover 35 love affirmations to manifest your own beautiful love story.
Attracting Love
What does it mean to attract love?
Does it mean you have to be a perfect version of yourself so that love can find you? Or that you have to turn yourself into what you think a partner would want in order to entice someone? Does it mean being alluring and seductive to catch the right person’s attention?
You probably already know where I’m going with this: attracting love is not about being perfect or turning yourself into someone else to please another.
Attracting love is simply about being love.
It means not waiting until you’ve found a partner to finally feel loved but to feel loved right now and to walk through your day knowing you are loved unconditionally.
That is, essentially, the foundation of manifestation. To manifest something means to visualize your dreams and desires and to vibrate at the frequency of your desires as if they’ve already come true.
So if you dream of finding a romantic partner, and you imagine that a romantic partner will make you feel loved, cherished, and adored, you wouldn’t wait until a romantic partner enters your life to feel those positive emotions; you’d choose to feel loved, cherished, and adored right now.
The same goes for anything you want to attract, or manifest, into your reality.
If you want to manifest financial abundance, become the embodiment of abundance now, no matter what your bank account says.
If you want to manifest the perfect job, then walk and talk like you have that job right now. Even if you don’t like your current job, when you vibrate at the frequency of loving your job, you’ll attract more of this to you. That means attracting a job you actually do love.
Vibrate at the frequency of having everything you want now, and it’ll begin showing up in your daily life in incredible and sometimes magical ways.

Releasing Your Limiting Beliefs
Often, the biggest barrier to attracting love isn’t external circumstances; it’s our own limiting beliefs.
Below, I’ve listed a few of the biggest limiting beliefs to manifesting love.
Limiting Belief: “In order to be loved, first I need to . . .”
“. . . lose ten pounds.”
“. . . get a tan.”
” . . . make myself more interesting.”
” . . . have a successful career.”
One of the biggest limiting beliefs to manifesting love is the idea that you have to change yourself in order to be loved.
This is absolutely, unequivocally not true. You deserve to be loved right now, exactly as you are. You don’t have to change yourself. You don’t have to achieve more. You don’t have to lose or gain anything.
By believing that something must first change in order for you to be loved, you essentially withhold love from yourself. The first and most profound step you can take to release this limiting belief is to love yourself unconditionally, exactly as you are. Let your friends love you as you are. Let your family love you as you are. And if you believe in a higher power, allow yourself to receive love from that higher power every single day.
I promise, the right person will love you as you are, and it won’t matter if you’re 10 pounds heavier or lighter, or if you’ve achieved career success.
They’ll love you because you’re you, and no external factors can change that.
Limiting Belief: “I refuse to meet someone. . .”
” . . . on a dating app.”
“. . . at a bar.”
“. . . on a blind date.”
I have a very unscientific, not-at-all-tested theory that the more we hone in on a specific way we’re not going to meet someone, the more likely it is that that’s exactly the way we’ll end up meeting the right person.
(Okay, I might mostly just be saying this because that’s what happened to me.)
But it does follow the laws of manifestation, which say that the more we give our attention to something, the more we attract that thing to us. This includes both things we do want and things we don’t want.
Do you have any of those I refuse to’s in your life?
Let yourself gently probe them. What’s the source for this requirement? Is it rooted in fear? Or negative past experiences? Are you worried about how you’ll be perceived by family or friends?
And finally, ask yourself if it might be worth it to release those old requirements and open yourself up to all kinds of possibilities.
Limiting Belief: “I opened my heart before and ended up heartbroken. I can’t put myself through that kind of pain again.”
If this is you, know that you’re not alone. I know exactly how this feels.
And I can’t promise that you won’t get your heart broken again.
But when you close your heart, you close yourself off to a lot of incredible people who simply want the chance to get to know you. Maybe even to love you. And I promise, there are people in the world who would love the chance to love you.
I know it’s not as simple as me saying, “Let them.”
So I’ll say this: you are worthy of unconditional love. If you can’t let others love you right now, I hope you’ll at least give and accept love to and from yourself. Because you are worth it.

75 Self Love Affirmations to Celebrate Your Worthiness
Are you ready to cultivate a mindset of complete and unconditional self-love? Below, discover 75 self-love affirmations to celebrate your worthiness and help you embrace the love, kindness, and compassion you deserve. Plus, be sure to download your free printable self-love affirmations below!
Cultivating Self-Love
When I first discovered the power of positive affirmations, I used them all the time. When I woke up. As I journaled in the morning. Getting ready for the day. As I was driving and running errands. While I worked out. Before I went to sleep.
When I went on my morning run, I’d half-listen to the podcast or music playing in my ears while repeating empowering affirmations in my head.
And while I worked, I’d hang sticky notes of positive affirmations all around my computer monitor and write more affirmations on the whiteboard above my desk.
It wasn’t long before the constant self-criticism and worries that always played in my head were replaced with a revolving playlist of positive affirmations.
Over time, though, the affirmations faded without me even realizing it. One day, it suddenly occurred to me that I was no longer constantly telling myself that I was worthy, strong, powerful, and always enough. The constant buzz of affirming words echoing through my head had grown fainter and fainter until they nearly disappeared completely.
At first, I felt slightly alarmed. What did this mean? Had I taken a step backwards in my journey of cultivating unconditional self-love?
So I did some self-reflection, sitting with only my journal, a pen, and my thoughts, and a realization came over me:
I hadn’t taken a step back.
I no longer constantly repeated these positive affirmations because they had served their purpose.
The words I once constantly spoke were now a part of me.
I knew in every cell of my being that I was worthy. I had taken bold steps and giant leaps and believed in myself for truly the first time since I was an imaginative child who knew she could do and be anything she wanted.
I embraced my own magic without having to remind myself anymore.
And I loved myself completely. Unconditionally. Without limits.
And that’s why positive affirmations are so important to me, and why I publish a new blog post every week filled with positive affirmations. It’s why I post daily affirmations every morning on my Instagram stories. It’s why I share positive words and empowering thoughts across my website and social media accounts:
Because you deserve to feel this same unconditional self-love and infinite sense of self-worth, too. And my mission is and will always be to be a beacon of love and compassion so you can discover your own eternal magic within.
So start there: start knowing you are worthy and deserving of unconditional love, peace, freedom, compassion, kindness, and everything good in the world.
Start there and know that the path in front of you is infinite, expanding, and limitless.
How to Use Self Love Affirmations
Here are some of the ways I used self love affirmations to cultivate a sense of unconditional love, belief, and worthiness within me:
- Journaling: Before I even started using affirmations regularly, I had a daily journaling practice where I journaled for 30 minutes first thing every morning. Once I started using affirmations, I began incorporating them into my journaling. Sometimes, I had entire journal entries that were almost completely comprised of affirmations, while other times, I’d write a few at the beginning or end of my journal entry.
- Affirmation Journal: And to piggyback off that, I now keep a separate journal in which I write three positive affirmations every morning, along with three things I’m grateful for and three things I want to manifest that day.
- Post-It Notes: As I mentioned above, I’d keep post-it notes with positive affirmations written on them around my workspace. The bathroom mirror is another great place for some uplifting words!
- Phone Notifications: Admittedly, I have my phone with me almost always, along with my Apple Watch that sends me notifications and messages. So I figured, why not make the most of it by setting up some notifications to pop up throughout the day with positive affirmations written on them?
- During Meditation: On days I have a really hard time centering myself, I’ll do a guided meditation with affirmations. I find that every single time, I leave the meditation feeling peaceful, uplifted, and aligned with my true self.

Shower Meditation: 6 Ways to Meditate in the Shower
Can you really meditate in the shower? It may seem weird at first, but shower meditations have become one of my favorite practices for cultivating mindfulness, connecting with my inner self, and instilling peace and tranquility within. Discover 6 powerful practices you can start using today for an effective shower meditation!
Debunking Meditation Myths
What do you think of when you hear the word meditation?
Here are some of the thoughts I once had, before I started meditating:
- Meditation is for monks and really special people who have the elusive power of being able to completely clear their head of thoughts.
- Meditation requires perfect silence and stillness.
- Meditation is hard.
- Meditating requires you to not have any thoughts at all.
- Meditation takes hours every day.
I’m sure there were other limiting beliefs swirling around in my head, preventing me from even entertaining the notion of trying to meditate. The biggest limiting belief? “I can’t do it. It’s too hard. Meditation just isn’t for me.”
Depending on where you are in your meditation journey, you may also have experienced similar thoughts and beliefs, or you might still hold some of these beliefs with you now. And that’s okay. One of the greatest benefits of meditation is the ability to cultivate mindfulness: non-judgmental awareness in the present moment.
That means noticing any negative thoughts or limiting beliefs you have without placing labels on them as good or bad.
You might already sense where this is headed here. Eventually, external influences came into my life that re-framed my perspective on meditation. So finally, I decided to give it a shot. And with time and consistency, I learned that all the beliefs I had about meditation were wrong.
Meditation isn’t for only really special people. It doesn’t require perfect silence or stillness. You don’t have to clear your head of all thoughts. And it doesn’t take hours.
And to turn that on its head:
Meditation is for everyone. You can meditate when it’s noisy. You can meditate while you’re moving. You can have thoughts the entire time you’re meditating. And you can meditate in five minutes. Or three minutes. Or one minute. In fact, time doesn’t matter at all.
Can You Really Meditate in the Shower?
When I first started shower meditations, I didn’t actually call them meditations at all. I wasn’t purposely trying to label what I was doing. I just wanted to relieve my mind from persistent worrying thoughts.
The shower is an interesting place. In Untamed, Glennon Doyle writes about how her kids describe the shower as this magical portal to brilliant ideas that just come to them effortlessly. I remember reading this part and thinking, “Yep! I know exactly what they’re talking about!”
I’ve had some of my most brilliant and creative ideas in the shower. (Well, in my head, they’re brilliant . . .) Sometimes, I’ve had several different ideas come to me at once, tumbling through my head like dominoes.
I’ve also spent entire shower sessions lost in worries and anxiety, so engrossed in my own thoughts that by the end of the shower, I don’t even remember washing my hair. (A smell test confirms I did.)
As I began to cultivate more mindfulness in my life, I started to pay closer attention to the paths my mind would wander in the shower. I have a lot of negative thoughts in here, I realized.
But what if it didn’t have to be that way?
What if I could change my story and use the shower as a place to wash away those negative thoughts and realign with my highest, truest self?
So I decided to take back my story and change the way I approached showering. I started to be intentional with my thoughts. And because I tend to shower in the morning, this proved to be an effective way to start my day on a positive note.
Below, I list several different methods you can use for a powerful and effective shower meditation. I’ve used all of these practices, and I can attest that they don’t just change the way I approach showering; they positively affect my thoughts, emotions, and overall mood for the entire day.
And to answer the question I posed in the heading: yes, you can absolutely meditate in the shower. One of the myths people often hold about meditation is that it requires sitting still cross-legged on the floor. And while I do meditate like this every morning, I’ve also done walking meditations, laying down meditations, and even quick breathing meditations when I get anxiety at the grocery store.
You can meditate anywhere it feels right to you. And the shower is a perfect place to start.
Shower Meditation #1: Wash Away Negativity
Where do your thoughts go when you’re in the shower? Do you worry about the day ahead? Do you replay events of the past 24 hours? Do you create imaginary worst-case-scenarios in your mind of things that probably will never happen?
Notice where you feel tension in your body. Notice what you’re currently worried or stressed about. Simply notice anything going on internally that doesn’t serve your highest good.
Now close your eyes. Take a deep, soulful inhale and a rejuvenating exhale. Concentrate on how the water feels on your skin. As the water falls around you, imagine it washing away any negative thoughts and emotions you’re holding onto. The water takes your tension and carries it to the drain. Anything that doesn’t serve your highest good is washed away from your body.
Feel your body becoming lighter. Your mind is clear. Your heart is open. Anything that doesn’t serve or support your total well-being has been washed away, swirling down the drain, where it will be cleansed by the earth.
When you’re done, smile and express gratitude. Feel the strength of your body, mind, and spirit.
You are worthy, powerful, whole, and more than enough. Carry those feelings with you throughout your day.
Shower Meditation #2: The Flow of Abundance
This is similar to the practice above, but instead of imagining the water washing something away from you, you visualize the water carrying something to you.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath. What are you seeking in your life today? Whatever you’re seeking, you are going to attract an abundance of it to you.
If you’re seeking creative ideas, imagine an abundance of inspired ideas and creative thinking washing down on you.
If you’re seeking financial prosperity, visualize gold coins and beautiful jewels raining down all around you.
If you seek peace, envision the water carrying infinite peace throughout your entire being.
Whatever it is that you seek, know that it is always available to you. And because all that you seek is already within you, you’re literally creating everything you desire within and attracting it to your being.
I like to think of the water as a metaphor for your limitless capacity to create and have anything you want. The water is constantly flowing, and because you know more is coming, you don’t have to cling to every droplet that falls down on you. You can appreciate when it comes, let it go, and find gratitude knowing that more is on its way.
The same is true for abundance. You have access to an infinite flow of abundance. It is your birthright, and it will never be taken away from you. So instead of clinging onto the inspired ideas, financial prosperity, peace, and anything else you desire, you can simply let it go, knowing more is on its way.
Shower Meditation #3: Positive Affirmations
A positive affirmation is a present-tense statement that is designed to uplift and encourage while boosting self-belief and supporting your overall wellbeing.
One of my favorite ways to lift my vibrations, take back my story, and release anything that doesn’t support my highest good is through positive affirmations.
I use positive affirmations when I’m driving, working out, at the grocery store, and throughout the day to affirm my worthiness and remind myself of my inherent limitlessness.
So I guess it’s no surprise that I started using positive affirmations in the shower, too.
To start, come up with a list of positive affirmations that resonate with you. If you need help getting started, here’s a list of positive affirmations for success, one for self-confidence, spiritual affirmations, and affirmations to end your day. If you’re well-versed with using affirmations and would rather come up with some on the spot, that’s okay, too!
If you want, you could try printing your affirmations and laminating them so you can hang them up in front of you to see. I haven’t tried this, but I imagine with a little ingenuity, you could get it to work.
As you shower, take conscious inhales and exhales. I like to spend a minute or two envisioning the water washing away and carrying any negativity from my body. Now, you can start saying your positive affirmations, either internally or aloud. Continue to repeat as you go about your normal showering tasks.
If you want to take it a step further, I like to close my eyes for a minute while I’m doing this. I’ve noticed that when I close my eyes in the shower, I don’t see pure darkness; instead, I see a faint golden hue shining behind my eyelids. you may notice this, too. Breathe into this light as you say your affirmations: I am worthy. I am enough. I am strong. I am powerful. I am loved. Envision the golden light surrounding you, cloaking your entire being. Feel the positive words in every cell of your body.
As you step out of the shower, you’ll find yourself feeling lighter, more peaceful, and simply radiant. This is one of my favorite ways to begin the day.
Shower Meditation #4: Golden Light
That golden light I mentioned above?
This light is always there. It’s always within.
And there are so many powerful ways to connect with this light to support your highest good.
One meaningful practice is to simply envision this light surrounding you as you close your eyes. See the light growing from within, radiating through every cell of your being. Spend several moments consciously connecting with your inner light. How does it make you feel? Peaceful? Empowered? Loved? Feel these positive emotions within.
You can also envision the water droplets themselves as beams of light raining down on you like loving nudges from the Universe. These nudges are a reminder that you’re not alone. You are always supported, protected, loved, cherished, treasured, and adored. Concentrate on the feel of the water hitting your skin. When you imagine these droplets of the Universe’s loving light, how does that make you feel?
Sometimes, I like to stand in the light and simply be. When I’m tired and weary, I feel the light surrounding me. In this moment, I know I don’t have to do or be anything. The Universe is taking care of me.
Shower Meditation #5: Chakra Healing
If you’re familiar with chakras, including the color and locations of each of the seven main chakras, you might enjoy doing a chakra meditation from time-to-time.
While you can definitely do this out of the a shower, I find something soothing about the warmth and peacefulness of the shower that makes this an especially perfect time to align the chakras.
Admittedly, I’ve always multi-tasked in the shower, so while my conditioner is setting in my hair, I’ll use this time to wash the rest of my body or shave my legs. But I’ve found that not forcing myself to multitask and just standing still for a minute or two can often be more supportive of my overall well-being. One of my favorite things to do during this time is get in touch with my chakras.
To start, close your eyes and take a deep breath. I usually start with my root chakra and work my way up, but if you’d rather start at the crown and work down, that’s totally fine. Inhale deeply, and as you inhale, see a bright red light at your root chakra growing bigger. As you exhale, this light grows brighter. Repeat this for one or two more cycles. Then, move up to your sacral chakra and repeat this process. Continue this until you finish at the crown. When you’re finished, imagine the light of energy flowing freely throughout your body.
If you’d like, you can end this with an empowering mantra, such as “All is well,” or, “I am aligned with my highest self.”
Shower Meditation #6: Breathing Meditation
Sometimes, when nothing else seems to work, what your soul needs is a simple breathing meditation.
There’s nothing fancy here. But simply paying conscious awareness to your breathing is a powerful way to cultivate mindfulness and restore harmony within.
Inhale deeply. If you want, you can inhale to a count of four or five. Pause for a brief moment when you reach the end of your breath. Then exhale for a count of five or six. Continue doing this as you shampoo, condition, wash your body, shave, and complete your various shower tasks.
There’s a good chance that as you do this, you’ll notice your thoughts begin to stray. That’s okay. When you notice your thoughts straying, don’t suppress them, and don’t be hard on yourself. Simply notice, and then let that thought drift away as you come back to your breath. Every time you have a thought, allow yourself to return to your breath. You may do this dozens of times throughout your shower, and that’s okay.
This is a simple yet meaningful way to meditate in the shower, as it returns you to the present moment, helps you to cultivate a sense of mindfulness, and promotes peace and tranquility within.
And there you have it: six powerful ways to meditate in the shower. Have you ever tried meditating in the shower? What are some of your favorite shower meditation practices? Leave a note in the comments below!

Healing the Crown Chakra
Growing up, I always believed in a higher power, but I wasn’t sure how to view this being that I saw as existing outside of myself.
I hurriedly said the same prayer every night before going to bed because I believed it was what I was “supposed” to do. In the back of my mind, I even believed something bad might happen to me if I didn’t do it. I believed that God was an entity that valued perfection, and the more perfect I was, the more this being would love me.
I think it was inevitable that as I got older, I’d begin to question the existence of this higher power. After all, it was exhausting trying to be perfect 24/7 just to earn the love of this invisible force that I had never built a true connection with.
The journey between then and now has been long, with many ups and downs, but my belief in a higher power, and my connection with this power, has completely transformed.
I tend to call this higher power the Universe, as that’s the name that feels most comfortable for me. I believe that the Universe loves me unconditionally, no matter how many mistakes I make, and no matter how flawed I may be. I am deeply loved, cherished, treasured, and adored. And whenever I’m hard on myself, I can close my eyes and feel this love all around me like a warm blanket draped around my shoulders, cloaking my entire being.
And I also believe that the Universe isn’t something I solely find outside of myself. I believe that the love and energy of the Universe flows within me. So when I’m seeking answers, I don’t have to look out there; I simply look within, and the answers appear. These may not be the answers I want to hear, but they’re the answers I need, and I know that I’m always being guided toward my highest good.
Your belief in a higher power may look slightly different from mine, and that’s okay. I don’t think one singular belief is the right belief. We all have our own truths, and our own journeys to reach these truths, and we all deserve to honor our truths without being judged or criticized.
The crown chakra is your body’s energy center for spirituality, enlightenment, connection with a higher power, and connection with yourself. When this chakra is open and healed, you feel a deep sense of divine peace. You trust the Universe to guide you where you’re meant to be, and you trust yourself to follow your inner knowing. You also feel connected to your soul’s purpose, and you’re able to surrender control and honor your path.
You deserve to feel the deep sense of clarity and peace that comes with an open and healed crown chakra. You deserve to know you are unconditionally loved, and you deserve to know this divine love exists within you.

How to Use These Journal Prompts
The journal prompts below are designed to help you gently explore your deeply set beliefs and how your past experiences have shaped who you are today. These journal prompts will help you to get in touch with your inner self, including your beliefs about spirituality and your connection to a higher power. They’ll also allow you explore who your highest, most authentic self looks like and how you can embody that person throughout the day.
As you read through these journal prompts, you can choose whether you want to answer all of them or only the ones that resonate most with you. There is no right or wrong way to approach these prompts; your specific needs likely differ from another’s. If you do decide to only answer the ones that resonate most with you, I always recommend throwing in a few “extras” as you may discover something that you weren’t expecting about yourself.
I encourage you to find a quiet spot where you can answer these questions without being interrupted. If you don’t have an ongoing journaling practice already, fifteen to twenty minutes of solitary journaling time is a good place to start. However, feel free to write for a longer or shorter amount of time. If you’re answering one prompt a day, then you may only need a few minutes for some of the prompts. If you decide to lump the prompts together and answer several at once, it could take longer.
The most important part of this practice is to withhold self-criticism and self-judgment as you explore your own inner world. If uncomfortable truths arise, let it be. Have love for the person you once were, the person you are now, and the person you’re becoming. The fact that you’re here right now, showing up to do this work, is incredible. Instead of judging yourself, find immense gratitude for your courageous heart; it isn’t easy to pursue this type of self-growth, but it is always worth it.
And, more than anything, know that you are always, always worthy of love. Unquestionably. Unconditionally. Always.

30 Journal Prompts to Open the Third Eye Chakra

Healing the Third Eye Chakra
I remember when my inner knowing told me it was time to leave. I had a great job, a beautiful place to live, and people who loved me. But I was living in a town that didn’t belong to me and never truly felt like home. The decision to leave wasn’t the hard part; it was the follow-through that threatened to break my heart. How could I say goodbye to a life that felt so comfortable and to people who had always loved and supported me?
But when it was time to go, I knew it. I took those first few steps of announcing that I’d be moving to a new state, and then something kind of magical happened:
Within two weeks, I received a job offer to the first job I applied to in this new state, and my application was accepted to live in a perfect apartment in a highly coveted part of town, just minutes away from my sister’s family.
When I made the decision to follow my inner knowing and took the first step, the Universe provided me with everything I needed to not just survive but to thrive.
And that’s not the only time this has happened, either. Many times in my life, following my intuition, even when it didn’t make sense, has turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. One of the scariest decisions? When I quit my high-paying job to pursue my dream of writing, with no prospects or assurances of success. All I had to go off of was a gentle nudge that told me everything would be okay.
And it was. More than okay, actually. Because when I made the decision and took the first step, the Universe delivered to me opportunities, experiences, and resources to support my journey. It was, undoubtedly, one of the best decisions of my life.
Following your intuition is hard, and I’m definitely not here to claim that it’s easy. I also won’t tell you that you won’t have any fear when you take that first step. I don’t believe courage requires the absence of fear; I believe if means feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
The third eye chakra is your body’s energy center for intuition, imagination, mental strength, inner wisdom, open-mindedness, and clarity. When this energy center is open and healed, you will experience a deep understanding of your life’s purpose and where you’re meant to go. This doesn’t mean that you see every single step of your path laid out in front of you; it means taking one step at a time, trusting that the next step will be revealed to you.
You deserve to live the life of your dreams, and the truth is, your inner knowing already knows the way.
Trust it. Believe it. Know that you possess infinite worth, and you are more capable than you can possibly imagine.

How to Use These Journal Prompts
These third eye chakra journal prompts are designed to help you gently explore and connect with your inner self while gaining a better understanding of your relationship with your intuition, imagination, mental strength, open-mindedness, and more.
You can choose to answer each prompt one at a time, or you can read through them and find the ones that resonate most with you. If you choose the latter, I do recommend answering a few of the prompts that you weren’t originally planning to work with. I find that once I start journaling, I encounter unexpected discoveries within myself. By including some extra prompts in your practice, you may make some unexpected discoveries within you.
I also encourage you to have an open heart and open mind as you answer each prompt, which is especially important since the third eye chakra is the energy center of open-mindedness. It’s also important to release self-criticism and self-judgment during your journaling practice. Your intention is not to discern what you’ve been doing right or wrong and beat yourself up over it; your intention is to open and heal your third eye chakra, and that means practicing radical self-acceptance.
The Universe brought you here for a reason, and it’s because you are loved, treasured, cherished, and adored. You are worthy of healing, and you are worthy of living a beautiful life. This is just a single step on your journey to discovering the infinite joy, love, peace, and abundance within yourself.
Before you sit down to journal, I always recommend finding a quiet and safe space where you’re free from distractions. Quality truly reigns supreme over quantity here. Fifteen minutes of wholehearted journaling time will take you much further in your journey than an hour of distracted journaling while scrolling social media or watching TV. (I write this with so much love and compassion, because I know how hard it can be sometimes to carve out some quiet time for yourself. Just know that self-care isn’t selfish, and you are worthy of this time to yourself.)

50 Money Affirmations to Manifest Abundance
You possess the power to manifest limitless abundance, and positive affirmations are the perfect tool to get you in a high-vibe state to receive. Discover 50 money affirmations to manifest financial prosperity, plus download free printable affirmations to keep with you whenever you need to raise your vibrations! And for even more abundance affirmations, click here.
Creating an Abundance Mindset
What is an abundance mindset?
An abundance mindset is knowing that you have access to an infinite source of all good things: joy, love, peace, freedom, creativity, passion, and yes, even financial prosperity. At any and all times, you have the ability to attract these positive forces to you simply by vibrating at the frequency of abundance.
It doesn’t just stop there, though. An abundance mindset means you know that this limitless abundance is available for all. Thus, your abundance can’t take away from someone else’s, and someone else’s abundance cannot take away from your own.
There is more than enough to go around for everyone to survive and thrive.
One way to think about this is to imagine you’re at a party, and they’re serving pizza. You look on the table, and you see only one pizza sitting there. However, there are dozens of people at the party. “How on earth is this one pizza going to feed everyone?” you think.
Someone with a scarcity mindset might dive right in to grab a slice of pizza before it runs out. Because they see only a limited amount of pizza, they believe their options are limited. Selfishly, they want to get their piece before it runs out.
But when you have an abundance mindset, something kind of magical happens. You don’t see limits. You’re handed a slice, and you decide to cut it in pieces, sharing it with the people next to you. But every time you share, your slice of pizza doesn’t get smaller; in fact, it multiplies. More and more comes to you. You keep sharing, and you keep receiving more and more.
When you have an abundance mindset, you don’t see that metaphorical pizza and think you need to get your slice before it runs out; rather, you trust that there’s more than enough to feed everyone. You know, inherently, that the pizza is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger.
That’s an abundance mindset.
And not only do you have access to this abundance, but you are absolutely worthy and deserving of every single bit of it. Abundance is your birthright. You deserve limitless joy, freedom, and love. You deserve to create a life doing what you love. And you deserve to get paid well doing it.
So it’s time to release any negative beliefs you may be holding onto regarding scarcity and lack, and embrace the abundance you deserve.
Because however much you think you deserve?
You deserve more.
Always more.
How to Use Money Affirmations
I love money affirmations because repeating them gets me in a high-vibe, positive state that I can carry with me throughout my day. Anytime I notice that my mindset is drifting back into scarcity zone, I repeat a few positive affirmations to myself and this instantly gets me feeling joyful, upbeat, and thriving.
The first step to using money affirmations is to consider your money mindset and release any blockages you may have to receiving money. For instance, if you grew up believing that money is the root of all evil, you can reframe these beliefs, knowing this isn’t true. What if, instead, you believed that money is a powerful force for love? What if money allows you to spread more love, kindness, and compassion throughout the world?
Secondly, decide how you want to incorporate these affirmations throughout your day. For instance, if you have a journaling practice, you might decide to repeat some positive money affirmations in your journal every morning. You could also recite affirmations while you’re in the shower, getting ready for work, or commuting. I also love to write positive affirmations on post-it notes and stick them up around my workspace to keep the positive energy of these words around me at all times. Another fun way to use affirmations is to set some notifications on your phone to pop up during the day with high-vibe affirmations written on them!
If you’re looking for more ideas on how to use affirmations, I go into more detail in my blog post, How to Use Affirmations (So They Actually Work).
Finally, remember to have fun with this. The road to manifestation isn’t paved in stress and hardship; it’s paved in joy. The times when I received my quickest manifestations have been when I let myself be a little silly and didn’t take myself too seriously. So if you want to repeat these empowering money affirmations while dancing in the living room?
I don’t just support it; I encourage it.

Healing the Throat Chakra
Do you remember being in school and the teacher would ask a question, and you were sure you knew the right answer, but something prevented you from raising your hand? It was especially difficult if the question didn’t have a definitive right or wrong answer, like in English when you were asked for your interpretation of what the author of a book was trying to say.
I think I know, you’d think. But I don’t want to sound stupid.
These situations don’t only happen in school, though.
It might happen at work, when you think someone’s doing their task the wrong way but you’re afraid to tell them. Or when you have an idea for how to improve something, but you’re terrified how your idea will be received.
It can also happen in personal relationships. You’re talking to someone, and the opportunity is right there for you to tell them what’s been weighing on your mind, but you just . . . don’t.
I think most of us have experienced this type of situation in some capacity at least once (or a million times) in our lives. I know I have. I was impossibly shy when I was younger, terrified to talk to teachers and classmates alike. And as I’ve gotten older, I’ve had a tendency of staying in the background, keeping my mouth closed even when I’ve wanted to speak.
Learning how to open and heal my throat chakra has been one of my longest self-growth journeys. I spent my life wanting to write, yet for years, I let myself believe that I had nothing important to say.
So when I finally gathered the courage to start my blog and put myself out there on my social media accounts, to say I was terrified would be an understatement.
But I felt the fear, and I took that first step anyway.
Believing that your words and your truth matter is one of the key aspects of healing your throat chakra. When your throat chakra is open and balanced, you’re able to speak clearly and concisely. You’re calm, peaceful, and patient, and you’re as good of a listener as you are a speaker. Additionally, you stay true to yourself and hold yourself with both integrity and authenticity.
However, if your throat chakra is either underactive or overactive, you may experience deficiencies in these areas. When underactive, you may be excessively shy, withdrawn, and have difficulty expressing yourself. And if overactive, you may be gossipy and have a tendency to interrupt others when they speak.
You have a limitless amount of potential to offer this world, and having an open and healed throat chakra is key to stepping into your purpose and offering your insights, beliefs, words, and voice to the greater universe.
And your insights are badly needed.
Because you have a unique history and perspective, nobody else can think like you. Nobody else can offer what you have to offer.
So it’s time to release the belief that your words don’t matter and step into the life that’s waiting for you.
Because you deserve to be heard. You deserve to be seen. You deserve to know that you matter.

How to Use These Journal Prompts
The 30 throat chakra journal prompts below are designed to help you examine your beliefs while getting in touch with your truest, most authentic self. Specifically, these journal prompts center around important concepts like authenticity, guiding principles, communication, and creative expression.
There’s no right or wrong way to approach these journal prompts. You can read through them and only choose to work with the ones that resonate most with you, or you can choose to answer one at a time. I do always recommend, though, that if you choose to answer just some of the questions, you throw in a few “extra” ones as well. I think that often, once we start writing, we’re surprised by what unexpected discoveries might come up.
When you sit down to do your journaling practice, make sure you have some time to yourself where you won’t be interrupted or distracted. I recommend at least 15 to 20 minutes (you can potentially answer a few different questions in that time period), but the best amount of time is truly what works best for you. I tend to journal for 30 minutes first thing in the morning after I wake up, and that’s always proven successful for me.
And most importantly, set the intention to make your journaling time a judgment-free zone. Give yourself unconditional self-love and compassion as you respond to the prompts. The path to healing is paved not in judgment but acceptance. Accept every part of yourself and your story just as it is, and give yourself some extra love and gratitude for showing up today and putting in this work.

How to Use a Pendulum (A Complete Guide)

What Is a Pendulum?
A pendulum is a tool you can use to gain clarity and insight into a situation or problem you may be having. Specifically, it’s a string, cord, or chain with a small object at the end; most often, this object is a triangular shaped crystal, but you may also find pendulums that have objects made of wood, stone, metal, or glass on the end. (Just be sure not to use anything that could be magnetic, as this could affect the pendulum’s function.) There’s also typically another small, weighted object at the other end of the chain, though not always.
Here’s an example of what a pendulum can look like:
You may also hear the practice of using a pendulum referred to as crystal dowsing or pendulum dowsing. This is simply the act of using a pendulum to receive guidance, whether it be about making a decision in your life or even finding your lost car keys.
If you’re looking to strengthen your intuitive powers, using a pendulum is a powerful practice to help you get in touch with your inner knowing. It’s also a formidable tool if you have trouble deciding whether to follow your head or your heart when making decisions. Many people believe that a pendulum is uniquely powerful in its ability to help you to make decisions by bringing together both the left and right sides of your brain. So instead of just following your head or your heart, the pendulum assists you in using the best parts of both in order to help you make the best possible decision for your journey.

When Do I Use a Pendulum?
A pendulum is most often used to gain insight and clarity when there are areas of uncertainty in your life. Anytime you have a question and are looking for help or advice, you can use a pendulum to receive guidance from a higher power.
Now, to be more specific, what kind of guidance can a pendulum offer? If you’re trying to choose between pizza or sushi, should you ask the pendulum to make the final call? Or should you reserve using your pendulum for only the really big life questions, like whether you should quit your job or start a new relationship?
Funny enough, I know people on both sides of the coin: some who only use their pendulum for the more lighthearted questions in life, and others who use it only for the deeper, more meaningful questions.
Those who use it to help them make daily decisions about what to have for dinner or what Netflix show to watch usually say that they use their pendulum for these types of questions because they like to save the deeper, more meaningful stuff for other spiritual practices, like tarot.
And those who use a pendulum for heavier questions often say that they don’t want to become dependent on the pendulum for daily decisions, and it’s a powerful source of guidance that shouldn’t be underestimated.
So who’s right?
Well, no one. And everyone.
Do you have another practice, like tarot, that you like to use for guidance in your life? Then maybe you’ll want to just use the pendulum on those more lighthearted questions. But if you don’t have another practice, or if you view a pendulum as a powerful way to connect with your highest self and/or your spirit guides, then you can absolutely use your pendulum for meaningful insight regarding your life’s path.
So again, there’s no right or wrong answer here. I do recommend, though, that when you’re first starting to use your pendulum, it doesn’t hurt to ask it some of those lighter questions like whether you should have cookies for dessert tonight. Not only will this help you to establish a connection with your pendulum, but it will help you develop trust in its guidance as well.
Who is Answering My Questions?
There are actually different schools of thought here, and none of them are necessarily right or wrong. Everything about this practice is extremely personal to you, so only you know deep inside who it is you’re speaking to.
Here are some common beliefs about who is on the “other side” of the pendulum:
- Your Higher Self: I deeply believe that your inner knowing always knows the way. Thus, it’s not a stretch to believe that your highest self – a self who is deeply connected to their intuition – can guide you to making the best decisions for you.
- Your Spirit Guides: Spirit guides can come in the form of animals, angels, ancestors, goddesses, elemental spirits (like trees or mountains), and other beings. Whether or not you’ve connected with your spirit guides in the past, a pendulum offers a way to connect with your guides moving forward as they help you along your path.
- The Universe: The Universe is the name I most often use to refer to a higher power in my life. You might also refer to this power as God, Source, Source Energy, Love, All That Is, or something else that feels right to you. When you receive guidance from a pendulum, you can view it as though you’re receiving guidance from the higher power in your life.
It’s also completely okay to believe that all of the entities above have a hand in making a decision. You’re also empowered to call upon a specific entity, such as a spirit guide or guardian angel, when you seek their guidance.

What Kind of Pendulum Should I Use?
As mentioned above, most pendulums are made of some kind of cord or chain and have a small object at the end; this is most commonly seen as a triangular-shaped crystal, but other items such as gemstones and wood can be used as well.
So is there one type of pendulum that works “better” than others?
Truly, there’s not. In my experience, and in the experience of many others I’ve come across, the one that’s going to work best for you is the one that you get a good feeling about. If you’re in a crystal store looking at pendulums and one catches your eye, the decision can truly be as simple as picking it up and purchasing it on the spot.
You may already have a favorite crystal, or one that has always held special meaning to you. If so, it’s completely fine to start your pendulum search knowing you want to incorporate that crystal somehow. So if amethyst is a special crystal to you, search for ones with a beautiful triangular-shaped amethyst at the end.
Will it work better if you buy one with a crystal that has a meaning associated with the type of questions you’re going to ask? For instance, if you’re looking for love advice, should you purchase a pendulum that has a piece of rose quartz on the end? You can absolutely try this if this idea resonates with you, but don’t feel like you need to. I’ve had success using a single pendulum for all types of different questions.
The only “wrong” answer would be to choose a pendulum that you don’t really like, or that you don’t get good vibes from.
To get started, here are a few beautiful pendulums that can be purchased on Amazon:
- Jovivi Crystal Pendulum
- JUST IN STONES Crystal Point Pendulum
- Nupuyai Healing Crystal Point Pendulum
- PESOENTH Dowsing Pendulum Crystal
- Top Plaza Healing Crystal Dowsing Pendulum
Where Do I Purchase a Pendulum?
Typically, you can purchase a pendulum at a crystal shop or online through Etsy, Amazon, a crystal shop, or a store dedicated to selling spiritual goods.
How Do I Use My Pendulum?
Before You Start
- Once you’ve chosen your pendulum, it’s important to cleanse and program your pendulum before using. I promise, this is easier than it sounds. You can cleanse your pendulum by setting it in nature for 24 hours (check online or in a crystal book to make sure the crystal is safe in the sun, and if there will be any rain or dew, make sure it’s safe to get wet); cleansing it with sage; placing it on top of or next to a piece of selenite or clear quartz (make sure they’re touching); or holding it under running water (again, making sure that your chosen crystal won’t be damaged by the water).
- Charging your pendulum is even easier, but this is a personal practice, so make sure you have some quiet time to connect with your pendulum. Sit quietly for 10 to 15 minutes, holding it in your hands. This can be done in meditation, if you’d like. During this time, focus on your connection between you and your pendulum. You may choose to set an intention for your pendulum, or ask for support from the Universe, your higher self, or your spirit guides.
Getting Started
- The first time you ever use your pendulum, you’ll want to set aside some extra time for understanding how your pendulum communicates with you. It’s best to do this when you’re in a calm, relaxed state and when you’re not feeling rushed.
- Sit in a comfortable position holding your pendulum between your thumb and forefinger. You’ll often hear people advise to hold it in your dominant hand, and that’s because it’s assumed you’ll be most comfortable holding it in your dominant hand. But if for some reason you’re more comfortable holding it in your non-dominant hand, that’s totally fine, too.
- Hold the pendulum out in front of you. It may move for a minute before becoming motionless. If you want, you can gently help it to still by touching it with your free hand and bringing it to a place of stillness.
Connecting With Your Pendulum
- Now that you’re in a place of stillness, it’s time to connect with your pendulum and understand how it communicates. First thing’s first: relax! If you need to take a minute to consciously relax each part of your body, definitely do so. The more relaxed and at ease you feel, the easier your energy will flow, and the stronger your connection to your pendulum will be.
- In order to start asking your pendulum questions, you need to know how it communicates. To do this, you can simply say, “Please show me a yes response.” Patiently watch and wait for the pendulum to start moving; it might move side-to-side, back-and-forth, clockwise, or counterclockwise. Make note of the direction it moves. This is your “yes” response. Do the same thing for a “no” response. If you’d like, you can also ask for a “maybe” or “neutral” response.
- Now, it’s time to cultivate your connection a little deeper. Now that you know what a yes and no response look like, take some time to ask questions in which you already know the answer. Here are some examples of some questions you can ask:
- “Is my name _____________ ?”
- “Do I live in ______________ ?”
- “Is my eye color ____________ ?”
- Note that this may not be super straightforward right away. The movements of your pendulum may be subtle, or the “yes” and “no” may not look super different. That’s completely okay. It takes time to understand how your individual pendulum speaks to you. The more time you devote to this practice, the better you’ll get!
Using Your Pendulum
Once you’re comfortable with your pendulum and understand how it communicates with you, you can start using your pendulum to ask for life guidance. Note that you’ll need to phrase your questions to have “yes/no” answers. The simpler and more specific, the better. This will help you to more likely get a clear answer. I’ve found that it helps me to write down my questions in advance so I know exactly what I’m going to ask.
Locating People/Items
A fun alternative way to use a pendulum is to hold it over a map and ask the pendulum to locate someone or something for you. If you’re looking for a person or a pet, you can hold the pendulum over a map of your town. If you’re looking for your lost car keys, you can hold the pendulum over blueprints of your house. And if the item or person could be anywhere in the world, you can even hold it over a map of the world and see where it leads you.
Like with the practice I discussed above, I’d recommend honing your relationship and understanding of how the pendulum works before diving right in. A fun practice is to ask about people or items that you already know the location for and see where the pendulum takes you. You can also ask where a specific place on the map is, like a city or a state.
Again, the key here is to relax and allow the flow of energy to move through you. While I believe that using a pendulum is a sacred practice, you certainly don’t have to be (and shouldn’t be) tense or uptight about it. Let it be fun!
Troubleshooting
So you’ve followed the steps above, and for some reason, this practice still doesn’t seem to be working for you. Maybe you’re not getting clear guidance, or the answers you receive seem to be inconsistent.
First thing’s first: it’s okay.
The worst thing you can do right now is internally beat yourself up or speak negatively to yourself. I know how easy it is to compare yourself to other people and even allow yourself to believe that you’re “not meant” to do this practice.
This isn’t true.
As in most situations, just because you don’t see another’s struggles doesn’t mean they don’t exist. And when it comes to this journey of spirituality, surrender, and trust, I think most of us have struggled (multiple times) throughout the process. And you know what? That’s a good thing. I’m all about experiencing contrast because I believe that struggle not only leads to growth, but it allows us to appreciate our wins even more.
So if you’re in a spot where you’re experiencing difficulty with this practice, have compassion for yourself. Choose to love yourself through every step of your journey. And let’s figure this out together.
Here are some of the reasons why you may be experiencing difficulty with your pendulum:
- You’re putting too much pressure on yourself. I’m putting this first because personally, this is what often leads me to feeling blocked, frustrated, and “not enough.” As a recovering perfectionist, I know what it’s like to want to be perfect in absolutely everything I do, and it’s all too easy to fall back in this trap. The best thing you can do for yourself is release the need to be perfect. Embrace your own messy imperfections. Next time you approach your pendulum practice, do so only when you’re in a state of calm, peace, and serenity.
- And to go with that last statement, another major reason why the pendulum may not work is because you’re in a negative emotional state. I wouldn’t recommend ever doing this practice when you feel distracted, stressed, anxious, agitated, or any other state that may block the flow of energy through you. If you’ve set aside time for your practice and are feeling off, I would instead recommend doing a self-care activity that serves your wellbeing, like meditation or journaling.
- You’re impatient. I know. This one’s a little frustrating, especially at the beginning, because you may not know yet how long it takes to receive guidance. But if you only waited a minute before giving up, I’d recommend waiting a little longer next time. I’ve found that I don’t always receive answers on my schedule or timeline, and ironically, the more I release the need to be in a hurry, the quicker they usually come anyway.
- You’re distracted. Were you in the middle of your practice when your text message notifications started going off? Is a child yelling at you from outside the door? Did the neighbor’s car alarm just start going off? (I know, not your fault.) Try to minimize distractions as much as possible. I usually keep my phone in a different room when I’m working with my pendulum.
- Your questions aren’t specific enough. If you’re not getting an answer, try rephrasing the question. Is it a two-part question? Break it down so you’re only asking one part at a time. Simplify as much as possible.
- You and your pendulum aren’t compatible. For me, this is a last resort, especially if you felt a connection with this pendulum when you chose it. Before tossing it to the side for a new one, I’d recommend cleansing it again and charging it once more. Take some time to sit with the pendulum, holding it close to your heart. Relax. Let go of any doubts, and trust its guidance.

Final Notes
- You may have seen pendulum boards and cloths that you can use to direct the pendulum where to go for a yes, no, or maybe answer. These boards aren’t necessary, but if they help you, definitely feel free to go ahead and try one! I’ve linked to a few below.
- You don’t have to limit yourself to using just one pendulum. You might have a collection of beautiful pendulums, and each time you sit down to practice, you can choose the one that speaks to you in the moment.
- Finally, I’m not really sure I’ve emphasized this enough, because I believe that if you’re here reading this, you have an open mind and an open heart. But the key to making this practice work for you is truly believing that it will. And I promise, if you keep your mind open and relax, it will. You have the power within you. The key to accomplishing anything in life is believing that you can.

35 Crown Chakra Affirmations for Spiritual Connection
Discover 35 powerful crown chakra affirmations to open and heal your body’s energy center for spiritual connection, enlightenment, peace, and connection with your highest self. And be sure to check out the links to my chakra series below, where I go in-depth on how to open, activate, balance, and heal your body’s seven main energy centers. Plus, don’t forget to scroll to the bottom of this post for your free printable crown chakra affirmations and journal prompts!
What is the Crown Chakra?
Located at the top of your head, your crown chakra is your body’s energy center for spiritual connection, enlightenment, inner wisdom, and connecting with your highest self. When your crown chakra is open and energy is flowing freely in and out of this energy center, you feel peaceful, trusting, and connected to your soul’s purpose. You’re able to release control of what you think your path is supposed to look like and instead surrender to the loving will of a higher power. When you surrender, you know that this isn’t just for your highest good, but for the highest good for all.
Connection is key to this energy center. An open crown chakra allows you to feel connected to yourself, to a higher power, to your purpose and truth, and to a greater good that extends far beyond your physical body. This connection produces a feeling of divine peace in your mind, body, and spirit. You feel a deep sense of clarity, and this allows you to remain focused and trusting as you step forward on your path.
When your crown chakra is blocked, you may experience symptoms that correlate with it either being underactive or overactive. An underactive crown chakra means you may feel isolated, close-minded, and cynical. You may also feel like you lack purpose and faith. If your crown chakra is overactive, you may feel like your entire identity is wrapped up in spirituality, thus causing you to lose touch with other parts of yourself. You may also feel critical of other people’s spiritual beliefs, especially if they don’t align with your own.
If you feel like something is missing from your life, it may be that you’re experiencing blockages to your crown chakra, leaving you to feel unsure of your purpose and possibly even a little lost. That’s why opening, activating, and healing your crown chakra is so important: not only to foster a deeper spiritual connection, but to create a deeper connection to yourself.
Below are 35 powerful crown chakra affirmations for connecting to your soul’s purpose, connecting to your highest self, and trusting the path in front of you. These affirmations are designed to gently and lovingly help you to surrender, let go, and trust your own inner divinity. They’re also meant to nurture a sense of divine inner peace, calm, and tranquility.

What is a Meditation Journal?
The answer, unfortunately, isn’t as straightforward as you’d think.
You see, a meditation journal is essentially anything you want it to be.
I know.
Least helpful answer ever.
But hear me out.
Depending on your personal goals and needs, a meditation journal can be any of the following:
- If you have an established meditation practice, or are looking to start one, then a meditation journal can be a way for you to reflect upon your daily practice. After each meditation, you can use your journal to write about what thoughts and sensations came up for you during your meditation. I’ll go into more detail on this below!
- You might view a meditation journal kind of like a mindfulness journal. This kind of journal can be a complement to a meditation practice, providing prompts that allow you to better understand your own mind and cultivate more mindfulness throughout your day.
- And you might also view a meditation journal simply as a way to record your meditations. You can write when you meditated, how long, and what kind of meditation you did.
In this post, I’m going to cover how to start a meditation journal from scratch. For the purpose of this blog post, I’m mostly going to cover the first bulletpoint above: creating a meditation journal that allows you to reflect upon your daily practice. This type of journal will require you to have some kind of notebook, whether it be a plain notebook, a hardcover journal, a notebook with inspirational quotes at the top of the pages, or something else that strikes your fancy. I’ve linked to some of my favorite lined journals and notebooks below!
However, if you don’t want to start from scratch, there are some awesome guided meditation journals out there. These journals give you everything you need to create a meditation journal today. Some allow you to reflect on your daily meditation practice while others help you to embrace mindfulness in your life, so choose what best fits your needs! I’ve also linked to some of these below, so you have plenty to choose from!
Now let’s get started on how you can create your own meditation journal today! P.S. Don’t forget to scroll to the bottom of the post to download your free printable meditation journal templates!
How to Create a Meditation Journal
Getting Started
Before you begin creating your journal, it’s important to step back and gain clarity on your intentions. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- What do I want to get out of this meditation journal?
- How can this meditation journal support my growth?
- Do I want to track progress through time, or do I simply want a space to record my reflections? (Or both?)
- What do I need to ensure I continue to keep up with both my meditation and meditation journaling practice? How can I ensure I get what I need?
Now, let’s break down these questions a little deeper:
What do I want to get out of this meditation journal?
This question is meant to clarify your purpose or intention for creating a meditation journal. Do you want to have a space to record and reflect upon the images and emotions that arise during your meditations? Why? Will this allow you to become more aligned with your true self? Keep asking yourself “why” until you get to the root of your reason. If you’re having trouble, you might rephrase the question like this: “After six months of meditation journaling, where do I want to be? How do I see myself? How am I different?” If you see yourself being more peaceful, self-assured, confident, compassionate, and/or loving, that may be your why.
How can this meditation journal support my growth?
This question spins off the above question. Do you feel like you allow stress and anxiety to take up too much space in your life? Then maybe this meditation journal will support your growth by helping you to cultivate more inner peace and tranquility. Do you feel like your brain all too often replays events of the past or worries about the future? Then this meditation journal could be a way for you to cultivate more mindfulness. There’s no right or wrong answer here. The ways in which this journal can support your growth will be personal to your own journey.
Do I want to track progress through time, or do I simply want a space to record my reflections? (Or both?)
If you love data, then you might enjoy keeping track of different elements of your meditation. Here’s a few things you can track:
- Length of meditation
- Time of day
- Type of meditation
- Emotions before/emotions after
- Guided/unguided
Again, this one’s entirely up to you. If you want to track it, go for it! If not, skip it. Do what you feel best supports your needs.
What do I need to ensure I continue to keep up with both my meditation and meditation journaling practice? How can I ensure I get what I need?
Keeping a meditation practice and adding an element of journaling to it requires dedicated time and space. So how can you make sure you get the time and space you need? This question is meant to set you up for success. Let’s remove any barriers and obstacles in the way now so you can continue to have a successful meditation and journaling practice moving forward.

Unstructured vs. Structured Meditation Journal
In this section, I’m going to first outline how to create a free-flowing, stream-of-consciousness meditation journal. This is for those of you who thrive on finding your creative flow and don’t want anything too structured. Afterwards, I discuss how to set up your own structured meditation journal, for those who crave a little organized structure in their routine. There’s no right or wrong way to approach your meditation journal; it’s all just personal preference!
Unstructured Meditation Journal
This is quite possibly the simplest and most straightforward way to start a meditation journal as it doesn’t require a lot of pre-planning from you. In fact, if you have a notebook and a writing utensil, you can start writing today!
The goal here is to reflect upon your meditation, and if you choose, you can go a little deeper and explore the emotions, thoughts, and images that arose for you.
So what do you need to do? Keep your meditation journal and a writing utensil next to you during your meditation. Once you’re finished meditating, turn to the next blank page and begin writing. (If it isn’t convenient to keep your journal next to you, it’s okay to move to a more comfortable writing spot.)
Here are a few things you might write about in your journal:
- What emotions arose during your meditation?
- What images did you see?
- What thought patterns did you notice?
- What challenges did you encounter?
- Did anything unexpected arise for you?
- What benefits did this meditation offer?
- How did you feel immediately after? Five minutes after? Ten minutes after?
If you want to track specific details about your meditation, you can also write down time, place, and length of the meditation. You might also want to track details like whether it was guided or unguided and what particular type of meditation it was.
Another option is to make your journaling a type of continuation of your meditation. For instance, let’s say you did a meditation with affirmations for self-love. When you pull out your journal, you could write down the affirmations that resonated with you and continue to write more positive self-love affirmations.
Or maybe you did a visualization meditation and you want to keep the visualization going. You can write about all the images that came up and are continuing to arise for you. I like to do this in first-person, like everything in my visualization is happening right now. So if I’m walking in a beautiful meadow in my visualization, I’d write something like, “I’m walking in a gorgeous meadow with a sprawling sea of pinks and oranges and yellows spread out as far as my eyes can see.“
What I like about this method is that the possibilities are endless. I also like the flexibility. One day, you might want to reflect upon a particular image that came up for you during your meditation, and the next day, you might want to solely write about the thought patterns you noticed as you were meditating. This practice gives you the freedom and versatility to spend your time writing about anything you want.
Structured Meditation Journal
While the above method of keeping a meditation journal gives you the freedom and flexibility to write about anything, there’s actually something kind of calming about having an organized, structured element to your journaling practice.
And luckily, it’s super easy to create a structured meditation journal from a blank notebook!
To start, let’s look back at the questions you answered in the “Getting Started” section above. Did you note anything you wanted to track? How can this journal support your growth? What’s your why? You want to make sure all of these elements are incorporated into your journal in some capacity.
Now let’s set up the first page of your journal. I like to keep this pretty simple so that I can simply write in my headings the day of instead of creating a bunch of pages in advance. But if you want to get creative, go for it! I encourage you to do what makes your soul happy. If you want to add in some stickers, washi tape, or pretty illustrations, you can do absolutely anything. At the bottom of this post, I’ve linked to some fun items you can incorporate into your practice.
Here are some of the different elements you might want to incoporate into your journal:
- Date
- Time
- Length of Meditation
- Mood/Emotions Prior to Meditation
- Mood/Emotions After Meditation
- Type of Meditation
- What was your intention for this meditation?
- Reflection: How did your meditation go?
- What thought patterns did you notice come up during your meditation?
- What emotions did you feel during the meditation?
- What images arose for you during the meditation?
- What benefits did the meditation offer?
- Final Thoughts
Make sure you leave the bulk of your notebook space for the questions that will require longer answers. If you like to create your pages in advance, I’d encourage you to only make a few to start. You might find that you want to change some of the questions or leave more or less space for some of your answers.

Monthly Reflections
This is optional, but I also like to include some space for a monthly reflection as I find it helps me to get re-centered when I check in with myself every once in a while. You can do this after meditating or choose a different time of day when you have some quiet time to reflect.
Here are some questions to ask yourself during a monthly reflection:
- Is my meditation practice supporting my highest good? Why or why not?
- Have any unexpected problems or issues arose in the past month?
- Is my meditation practice supporting my growth in the way I hoped? Why or why not?
- What internal changes have I experienced in the past month?
- Is there anything I want to change about my meditation practice?
- What profound lesson have I learned in the past month due to my meditation and journaling practice?
- Have there been any unexpected positive benefits?
- Is this practice worthwhile?
It’s important to check in with yourself to make sure that this practice is always supporting your highest good. If not, why? Do you feel like meditation has become something you “have” to do rather than “want” to do? Then maybe it’d be helpful to stop tracking your meditations and release the pressure to have a perfect meditation streak. Or maybe you’ve only been doing one type of meditation, and it’d be helpful for you to incorporate other types into your practice.
Whatever your answers are, hold love and compassion for yourself. None of us are perfect. Remember that each day is a beautiful opportunity to start anew.
